Family Drug Support Aotearoa New Zealand runs a New Zealand-wide 0800 telephone support service for families, whanau or friends affected by the misuse of alcohol and other drugs of others.
There is no other nationwide organisation dedicated to building coping and resilience in family members so they are able to support those around them with alcohol and other drug challenges.
Our telephone service is staffed by volunteers – and we need more!
We need people who:
You don’t need extensive knowledge of alcohol or drug misuse, nor do you need to be trained as a counsellor. Family Drug Support provides excellent training and support for people who offer to be support line volunteers.
Volunteering is a great way to make a positive difference for families, whanau and friends and improve the health and well-being of your community. You’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills, grow your own self-awareness and help people in need. You’ll join a team of like-minded people who are passionate about making families stronger.
If you are able to help Family Drug Support by offering to be a support line volunteer, you will need to complete the application form below.
Training will be provided, date and time to be confirmed when application received.
If you would like to discuss further this opportunity please email our Office Administrator, Lynette Crestani at office@fds.org.nz or telephone 03 2818 740 between 9 am and 3 pm.
